

Founded in 2021, Gawan Academy is run by The Deccan Archive. Named after Khwaja Mahmud Gawan, the academy works to host dialogue and educate people by curating talks, workshops and panel discussions on various facets of the Deccan.
Workshops:
Since its foundation in December 2021, Gawan Academy has conducted Kaargaah E Urdu Poetry Workshops in Hyderabad city. These recurring workshops are aimed at beginners as well as amateurs who wish to learn more about Urdu poetry forms. The workshops are conducted in heritage structures across the city and are led by Ray Ain Asrar.

Shaam-e-Aalamgeeri was a panel discussion on the Mughal Sultan Aurangzeb by historians writers and scholars held at Lamakaan - an open cultural space. The session aims to be an unbiased discussion, in relevance with recent times including topics that cover his life, conquests, reign and politics. The discussion was chaired by Prof. Adapa Satyanarayana (Dept of History, OU), Maleeha Fatima, Ray Ain Asrar and Sibghatullah Khan.
